RELA is a small boutique English language school based in Rotorua, one of the most popular holiday destinations in New Zealand, famous for its Māori culture, geothermal activity, hot mineral pools and stunning natural landscape.

An exciting new chapter in RELA’s story is about to start! The school is now situated in new premises on the 4th and 5th floors of Hinemoa Tower, Rotorua’s second tallest building, right in the very centre of the city.
Our small school with a big heart now overlooks Te Manawa which translates as “the heart”. The school has spectacular views over the whole city to Mokoia Island. Most of the city’s top restaurants and cafes are within a 5-minute walk of the school and the main bus stops are also less than 5 minutes away. Te Manawa has picturesque grass areas with seating (and beanbags in summer) for the students to relax in and eat lunch.
The school has 5 classrooms, a dedicated student area, 2 kitchenettes, a self-study room and a library. There is lift access.
On Friday afternoons, there are no classes but we offer all students a chance to join us to experience some of the many wonderful attractions and activities that Rotorua has to offer. For full-time (25 hours per week) students, these activities are free.
Courses available at Rotorua English Language Academy
We offer a strong academic programme with General English classes at multiple levels, as well as a Preparation for IELTS class. We also have a strong examination focus offering classes in IELTS, PTE, Cambridge First and Advanced, and TOEIC.
As well as our Academic programme, we have an extensive activities programme which attracts people from all over the world, in order to learn English in an exciting and stimulating environment.
The style of teaching and classroom environment
The diversity of our student population means that we need to be a learner-centred school. We put our learners first and strive to understand who they are and what they need. We understand that our students are all individuals from different backgrounds with
different personalities, learning styles and reasons for studying English.
We value communication skills highly and we encourage our students to use the language, not only to analyse the language.

I loved studying at RELA. I was welcomed and I was quickly integrated. I learned a lot during these two months and I could see that the students are friendly, the people in the office are always listening to you and are always ready to help, and the teachers are always doing their best to help you progress and always encourage you. Being at RELA and in New Zealand allowed me to learn to live alone, to be independent and to discover an environment different from the one I normally live in.
