Courses available at Worldwide School of English

We offer seven levels of General English with a maximum of 18 students per class. For Academic English, we provide IELTS Exam Preparation (three levels) and Cambridge FCE/CAE. We also offer short courses, including English for Business, writing, pronunciation, and New Zealand studies.

For Academic English options we offer IELTS Exam Preparation (3 levels) and Cambridge FCE/CAE.

The style of teaching and classroom environment

Each level of General English follows a set syllabus and curriculum, but teachers can also create their own lessons using various materials such as articles, internet sources, TV or radio shows, and songs.

Every student receives a folder to keep their lessons organised, providing a record of their learning journey at Worldwide School. All study materials in General English classes are provided free of charge.

To encourage self-directed learning, all morning classes include a scheduled one-hour session each week in the library. This Self-Access programme is specially designed to help students address their individual study goals and needs. In their first week, each student receives a Student Learning Passport to work with their teacher in identifying areas for improvement and recording study recommendations.

The weekly library session is also an opportunity for students to meet with their teachers individually to discuss any learning difficulties, progress, test results, or other lesson-related matters. Teachers use the passport to document these student-teacher conference sessions. Additionally, students are encouraged to use the library after class to work on their study goals.

Accommodation options for international students

We use a range of services to support our international students, including first-language counsellors, academic counselling and placement for further study, and airport pick-up.

We arrange homestays with carefully inspected and selected New Zealand families. Additionally, we offer apartment accommodation in central city locations.

A rich student experience

Worldwide is renowned for its diverse international student body. We welcome students from Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and French Polynesia, with over 30 different nationalities represented each year.

Another thing that I really like about this school is the teacher using different strategy to keep your motivation very high. For me at the beginning it was really difficult for me to talk in a foreign language but because of the teacher and their different strategy, I’m allowed to just improve my English.
